I've read the topics here and have been for a while but looking for a recorder with 80GB + HDD for £300

    It will be used for
    DVD Playback
    Recording from an inbuilt freeview
    Transfering from VHS
    And obviously recording to HDD/DVD

Also wanting a nice easy to use guide (preferably something where i can select a program and hit record, have it record the same program every week etc)

Whole player should be easy to use as my mum who finds it hard enough to use the tv itself should be able to use it with some training

    Thanks
    Ben

Do you mean you want a unit with a Freeview tuner (DVB-T) built in? If so then there is currently no such unit. That said the Panasonic EH60D is due in a few weeks and will do everything you want - but it's price will be closer to £450.

Have a look at the 'Which DVD Recorder?' link in my signature for general DVD recorder buying advice.

    Sorry, made myself unclear

I meant the tv has inbuilt freeview meaning the dvd recorder would have to record from that. The DVD Recorder doesn't need Freeview

I'm not totally sure how that works because i can't work out how to record from the freeview to our vcr however hard i try

You really need to get yourself another freeview box to plug into the TV and DVD recorder, if you record directly from your TV you will have to keep it on that channel, if you switch off or change channel you will record zilch or the new channel.
