anybody out there know of an available dvd recorder that allows you to autoplay the film or avoid the first menu?

i'd like to be able to give people dvds that play without the user doing any setup or select tasks.

    thanks

    drew.

I think they all allow you to create a DVD without a menu. My Toshiba XS32 does.

On pioneer recorders you always have a menu. When you insert a finalized DVD-R, recorded in a pioneer recorder, in any player it will do nothing. If you press play it plays. If you press "Menu" or "Top Menu" it will go to the menu.

Interesting. With the Toshiba you can select to have no menu, and when you do this the disc will just play when you put it in a DVD player. I (wrongly) assumed that all recorders could do this.

On the Panasonic E85 you can choose. You tell it whether to start with the menu, or start with the first title, when you burn the DVD.

when I insert a movie recorded on my Pioneet 720 into my separate portable DVD player, the film just starts on its own. I can access the menu by pressing "menu" on the RC
