Of the current models, the 2930 and above have DenonLink 3.

Has your KA1SE been updated with Denon Link S.E.? Should be a sticker on it to indicate that it has. The first KA1SE upgrades only had the original Denon Link which won't work with Denon Link S.E. or Denon Link3.

Sound quality wise I still think it's the best way to connect Denon components. Just sounds so clean, if that makes sense. I wouldn't change to a new player purely for Denon Link though. It would be part of the upgrade package of better video etc (if you're looking at the newer models like the 2930, 3930 etc).

Gold might be a problem though. Only players with Denon Link that are gold are the older DVD-A11 and DVD-A1. The 3910 has Denon Link but isn't gold.

    Hi :hiya: ,

Yes the amp is Denon Link SE. It had the K upgrade first, then when back to Denon to get the SE link upgrade.

It worked pefectly with my DVD-3930 set to 2nd Edition Link.

The DVD-A1 will play DVD-Audio, but not SACD.

It's my opinion that the DVD-A1 is better than the 3930 via component, and considerably better as an audio player.

However, the 3930's picture quality is better than the A1 when upscaling over HDMI and the SACD playback is nice bonus.

However, if you want the best CD replay possible from a 1 box machine, don't need HDMI and aren't bothered about SACD, then the DVD-A1 is better.
The DVD-A1 is also much better built.
