    Hi all, :hiya:

I'm looking for a small/compact DOWNWARD firing sub + small stylish sats to comply with the new WIFE regulations for 2005. :lesson:

    Budget would be approx £1k

I will be placing the sats on the wall , so they should be quite discrete.

I like the look of the M-cube + B/W M-1 as sats and as DF subs go the one that takes my fancy is the BK XLS2000-DF

Would any of these combo's be any good for movies + music??

I have a Pio D2011 as the amp

    Cheers :smashin:

What would make the sats stylish?

I can't stand metal or silver speakers.

It does matter what the speakers look like; she'll still complain about the wires. :nono:

    Anyone??

And would the BK 2000XLS-DF be a better bet for sound quality than the B&W (maybe not the PV1) + Mission subs that usually come as a package with the sats

    Cheers

Well I think that the BK sub would be an excellent choice but really don't know much about the kind of speakers you're interested in I'm afraid. B&W do seem to be making some good stuff at the moment though and I wasn't impressed by the comparable Kef range. :)

Not many subs will match the Mission M-Cubes sats, as they only reach down to 280Hz, so the Mission sub is designed specifically for these speakers. However, the sound is still excellent for a sub/sat system, as long as you don't put the sub anywhere but between or next to the front two. Anywhere else and you will hear where some of the midrange is coming from. If you see this being a problem, stick with the B&W set as they reach down to 80Hz and they will better suit a sub upgrade.
