Ok, This my first posting on this part of the AV Forums.

Just resently got myself a DVD recorder/player and now starting to replace my favorite movies with the DVD version.

Looking round for Terminator 2 and I came across this selection:

    http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=search&adudisc=y

Which one would be the better one to choose for Sound and Picture?

Extras are ok, but not essential.

    Cheers.

I have the Region 1 of the Ultimate edition T2.
It has great sound, good picture, has 3 different versions of the film (theatrical, special edition and extended special edition), and a ridiculous amount of extra features and documentaries.

The version I have is the now rare one on a single double sided, dual layed disc. But otherwise the R2 is the same but on 2 seperate discs.

I understand that there's an 'Extreme Edition' of T2 that has the best picture quality of the lot, but doesn't have DTS sound, the extra features or the extended versions.

I'm happy with my ultimate edition, and would recommend it. However I've not actually seen how much better the picture quality is on the Extreme edition.

Yep, I've got the T2: Ultimate Edition too, but R2 2 Disc set. pretty hard to imagine the EE to look much better.

Of these, no contest. The Ultimate Edition!

Though, if you can view Region 1's then I'd also consider the Extreme Edition.
However, the Region 2 UE is going cheap so I'd stick with my original recomendation.

    I have deleted the post.

    Not my day today.

    Question:
What is the best copy of Terminator 2 on DVD I can get my hands on?

As regards the Extreme Edition, isn't the "Extreme" version on the dvd only playable with a really powerful pc? It's a WM9 file or something isn't it, (high def video running at 24fps).

No, that is on disc 2, disc 1 is regular DVD and a far better transfer by all accounts.
