I'm looking to finally add a decent soundcard to my PC.

I'm looking to use the SPDIF to my amp (Marantz SR7200) for movies, I also wouldn't mind getting a card that will do DVD Audio to see what all the fuss is.

Will the M-Audio Revolution do this or will I have to go for the SB Audigy range.

I'm not that fussed about 2 channel stereo from the card as I think my AMP's DACs will be better than the cards ones.

    Any thoughts/ideas/recommendations anyone??

    Cheers,
    Rich

    Hi,

As mentioned in the other thread, everywhere I've looked has rated the Revolution as better than the Audigy 2 for music and movies. The creative card wins for gaming.

It has a coaxial S/PDIF Output and does do DVD Audio.

It is also cheaper than the Audigy 2 too.

If I was sticking to HTPC then this would be my card of choice.

    Cheers
    Marc

For sure the M-Audio is rated much higher than the Audigy on sound quality, and it may be worth having a chat with Branxx on here, who really does know his stuff re:sound cards and quality.

    uczmeg,

    I'll go with that then.

How much was it again ??.

I'm off for some well earned beers now so PM me the final details and we'll take it from there.

    Cheers,
    Rich.

That is the only way I'd ever buy from Scan these days, if I could visit them.

    They are cheap and fast.

But if anything goes wrong it becomes a nightmare of phone calls, being on hold and waiting ages for them to test anything.

Just my experience of course, but I know it has been shared by many.

    Cheers
    Marc

very true but then again i have never bought anythin from there that has broke (fingers crossed) and the only time i had a problem was when they gave me wrong motherboard and they swapped it but many many people do have problems wi them!
Maybe you could try www.komplett.co.uk but i cant get on the site to see if they sell the soundcard

I wouldn't worry too much, Rad is buying mine ;)

I would suspect Scan would be the cheapest, with the other names Komplett, eBuyer etc coming close if they stock it.

I think it works out a little over £80 at overclockers.co.uk.

    Cheers
