i am looking at buying my first digital camera, and must admit i am a complete novice on the subject.

the camera will be for general use holidays etc. with no real specialist use in mind.

i`ve have a budget of around £200 for a camera and so far have come up with these 3 cameras:

kodak easyshare 6440(£200)
canon ixus 11(£200)
canon powershot a70(£209)

these are all listed on amazon.
has anyone any recommendations from these three,or any other suggestions?

apologies for the thread,as i realise these questions are asked all the time, but i have to start somewhere, and any advice would be greatly appreciated:smashin:

thanks keanyboy.

yeah i think i might go for the a70.
i presume i`ll have to get a card for that as well.
any other "essentials" i might need for it too.
its £209 on amazon which is the best i can find.

thanks mate:smashin:

You get a 32mb card with the A70 adox. It will do you fro starters:)

Oh, get a case mate.

you only get a 16mb card with the a70 ,igot a 64mb that cost £12.

It's 207 adox. You can get it for £209. I'd stick with the one from the uk

Not seen that make before ,i got the 64mb version of this ,works fine with my a70.The one you picked out will work fine .
I allways use amazon when i can, i've allways had a great service from them.

128 mb = £17.99
256 mb = £36.19 (probably the one to get on a 3mb camera, if not 512 mb = £68.99)

thanks mate. i had a look on amazon, and its £225 which starting to drift away from my original budget.

how would the a70 compare to it,apart from the ixus being 4mp?
i really am a complete novice, and could do with all the advice/opinion i can get

No optical zoom on the ixus 2, but the optio has, so has the A70. The A70 takes pencils (really handy) but it is bigger then the other two, but it's still a small camera.

What does this mean ?
I have an A70 bought last year. I have 2 x 128mb cards which coast around £20 ish each. You can get around one picture per mb so a 128 card = 128 pictures. Hope this helps and can you help with the Pencil issue ??
