Could anyone advise on the best camcorder to buy for the following tasks:

Copy all my old VHS tapes onto digital and then onto DVD.
Do I need DV in and DV out?
I have some old 8mm film I would like to copy and put onto DVD ( with edits) .Would it be possible to run the 8mm film onto a white screen and film that, and add music and speech later??

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

If you want to convert your old VHS you will need AV in/DV out. I believe that it is common practice to copy 8mm in just such a way. Apparently you will need a variable speed projector though so that you can adjust it's playback to reduce the flicker.
I'm sure there are loads of different cams that has AV/DV conversion functionality, I'm using a Sony PC330 and am very happy with it. (approx £1000)
