yea I did get it from ebay , but it was about 18months ago so cant check where from. they are proper pressed discs and i think the proper size (8.2gb) disc one. think ill just have to stay in the dark about them.since no one seems to know anything about them maybe they are bootlegs, but they are damn good ones, with the booklet, poster, even disc case as it should be. cheers for all the replies guys. The thing to remember is that not all bootlegs are those dodgy dvd-r types you find down the carboot with a printed off cover, some are of very high quality and have been pressed on a DVD9 so the quality will be the same as the original.

Without something to give it away like a holographic DVD9 logo or DTS banner along the top its difficult to tell whether its a fake or not, have you tried it in your computer to see whether it really is Region 3? or whether it has no region coding?

It looks like it very well could be a bootleg using various elements from other versions. The disc pictures themselves look like the standard Superbit version plus the second two discs from the Korean Superbit Deluxe set that came with the soundtrack. The picture behind the discs is not the same as in the R3 Korean version though.

The poster booklet is probably the same as in this set too but the box looks like the Japanese version.

just checked the region coding on the comp and it is region 1,2,3,4,5,6 and it says no css or rce protection. so must be a bootleg, ah well just as well its a bloody good one. or that would of been £16 quid down the drain. cheers Mike

P:S do region 3 actually show up as region 3 ? , I read somewhere that most region 3 are actually region 0 anyway?.

All the Region 3 titles I own show up as Region 3 on my computer, plenty of bootleggers put Region 3 on their fakes as its another way of saying Region Free ie bootleg

If you are happy with it then no problem but personally I wouldnt be happy paying any amount of money for a bootleg no matter how good it looked.

Is that a bit of moral high ground taking? :nono: ;) .how it looks it not important to me I dont care at all what condition a box or cover is in, I watch movies not collect them, I only require the best possible image quality i can get which is what I have. As for being happy for paying the money, i have original paid through the @rse for many dvds that the quality is far less than this bootleg ,if in fact that,s what it is. I have a hidef version of bhd that blows the superbit away but thats another story. thanks to all for the replies cheers Mike

Like I said its just my opinion, I am not having ago at you or anything and from the pictures you have posted I would have a hard time telling whether it was an original or bootleg, if they had stuck on region coding I doubt anyone would know for sure.

I have been tempted by bootlegs in the past, at least I know they are bootlegs whether the eBay seller admits to it or not ;)
Just have a look on eBay for the Band of Brothers Military Pack and you will find plenty for around £35 which is a great price but there is no way they are real considering the legit sets sells for £70+ but its still tempting as it looks of high quality and I am sure the discs are 1:1 copies of either the R1 or R3 discs so there wouldnt be any loss in picture quality, its just that I like to have the real thing even if it costs more.

The sad thing about the Region 3 BOB Military Pack is that the bootlegs I have seen on eBay look as good as the real thing and I doubt there would be anyway to tell it wasent the official product apart from testing to see whether the discs are region locked and most people probaley wouldnt even think about that when they see it on eBay, they just see a bargain.

One thing to look out for I have noticed is that the packs include a pen knife and I dont believe this was part of the official R3 Pack or was it?
Also, almost all the Packs on eBay list DTS audio and unless I am mistaken it was only the Region 1 release which included DTS so the bootlegs must have been sourced from them.

Hi indi, judging by what I have now seen through ebay and on this thread I would say it is next to impossible to reliably buy a new or used for that matter dvd from ebay and be sure of the authenticity, seem the companies really have got us by the b@!!s "we have to buy from them" or the forums, but To be honest if it wasnt for my curiosity i could quite easily of sold this to someone else believing in all honesty it to be an authentic r3 release. then where the hell would my t/rating have gone "Mickey sells copies Ban him quick" . never thought buying a film could be so perilous  . cheers Mike
