    Hello,

I am going to change my old yamaha amplifier. I am looking to 4 models. Pioneer vsa-ax10i / Denon avc-a1sr / Onkyo Tx-Ds989Mrk2
or the new Yamaha Dsp Az9. Since the yamaha cost a bit more than the others do you think its worth the money?

    Best Regards

The Yamaha hasn't been released yet but does look very good from the specifications. Hopefully it's audio performance will be excellent.

Of those you have mentioned I haven't heard the Onkyo but prefer the Denon A1SR to the Pioneer AX10i. :)

I think its better to wait until the yamaha is in the market. The think that I don`t like is the remote control of the yamaha

It does look very interesting.:) You could always buy another remote like a Philips Pronto?

Also worth remembering that Denon will be replacing the A1SR with an updated model. This should be announced early next year. So depends how long you want to wait for a new amp.

I don't know how that would work out in pounds but heres a few ideas around the £2000 mark

    Power Amps

    Parasound HCA - 2205A
    Bryston 9BST
    Rotel RMB 1075

    Proccessors

    Meridian 565
    Rotel 1066
    Parasound AVC - 2500

Mostly can be had in the second hand market or even ex - demo

    Cheers

Do you think that seperate amp and processor are better than a top model integrated amp?

    Personally yes...

Because it gives you the advantage to upgrade either the processor or the power amps.

Also as technology is moving pretty quickly lately, most processors you can update via the dealer to 7.1, PL2 e.t.c

Give them both a try you may like the one box solution.

    Good Luck

The Denon A1SR can be upgraded and should have the Dolby PL2X upgrade in the near future (the USA version 5803 has this listed as an upgrade on Dolbys Website).

Whilst it's possible to do a major upgrade again like they did with the A1SE (new digital board, processors, dac's, formats etc) that would be up to Denon to decide!
