I have got myself really confused (not difficult)

I want to up grade my Sony 925 its served me well so I started looking around and it seems that the Denon 3802 would be good but I have found the Pioneer vsx909 and the extra rear channel amp for £670 in total and also the Yamaha AX1 for £999. I understand the THX issue with the Pioneer but worry about its power and I also understand the issue of Dolby 2

My main concern is that I have a set of front speakers which I love (Reference Lumley 3.5) they are 4 ohm and rated at 90 decibels and a mixture of other 8 ohm speakers.I think my main speakers are hard to drive ? so which amp would be better or will they both be ok.

The issue of dolby 2 might be important but I believe both of these amps offer some sort of system for offering 7/8 channel sound from 5.1 and normal prologic sources is this correct or am I proving how confused I am getting.

In short I have around £800 to spend but could stretch to £1000 the 2 amps I mention seem like a good buy are they woth buying and if so which one or should I get something like the Denon 3802 any help would be appreciated thanks in advance

Just a thought Cutes6, have you thought of a dedicated amp with a stand-alone processor like a Yamaha 800.
