A second hand one if it is going to do them any justice. Many interesting units often turn up at that sort of price.

    Films? Music? Bit of both?

Lots of both! I could go higher if needed, but I want to avoid paying for features I'm not going to use though, if possible.

I'm really just after a bog standard 5.1 DD/DTS decoder that makes my speaker sing. Looking at, for example the Denon 3805, I can't ever see myself using half of the widgets.

If you got an amp with loads widgets im sure you would play with them and find you do want to use them:D The 3805 would be a good amp to aim at as you can bi-amp those lovely 700s which would make them sing all right:D

The auto setup is also a very handy feature to have. It can save you loads time fiddling about.

I have no experiance using it, but from what i read the Yammie 2400 might be worth looking at or the Denon 2805?
