Hi all,

I have an old 2008/2009 Samsung LE40A786R2. This TV has been amazing for me due to it's zonal LED-backlit LCD. Even though it's an LCD, to my eyes it can do pure blacks like a plasma could.

I am after the same again but for a new 4k TV.

I'm ideally after a 55"+ UHD Premium certified set with a 10bit panel & local dimming / local LED backlighting (not edge).

Do TVs still exist with zonal LED backlighting?

Which manufacturers models conform to all of the above, if any? It's really confusing as they all have different names for the same or slightly different things.

I'm looking to spend no more than £1300 come January 2017.

Not at that price. You need to spend at least 2k on a Panasonic DX-902 to get FALD. Some edge lit TVs are starting have a bit better local dimming though.

For your budget and needs Samsung KS7000 is the obvious choice, it's edge lit with local dimming but the local dimming still isn't up the scratch with a FALD TV.
