Sky HD now installed and I want to purchase an LCD in the next 2 weeks. The minimum size I want is 40" but I'd love to get a 46". My budget is about €2200 or STG£1500

My absolute priority in a TV is:

    1. Watching soccer on Sky sports (HD) and Setanta sports (over Sky) which is non HD

Although I would like it to be future proofed (1080p) for HD/BluRay DVD (and upscaling DVD players).

    Gaming is not a priority.

    Regards

If your absolute priority is PQ on football then most people including myself are gonna recommend you choose a plasma.

I was afraid that was going to be the suggestion. All my research has been LCD orientated so far.

I was thinking of the Sony 40 or 46W2000 or the Samsung LCD-TV LE40M87BD or 46. (now that the prices have dropped in both ranges)

Otherwise I was going to wait until the W3000 or the F series Samsung!

I guess a 'lurk' in the PLASMA forum for a few days before making my decision is required (at least to be able to compare plasma vs LCD models)

    Regards

    Ian
