I am looking to build a new monitor as I have just got all of the parts for my new pc (although saying that the GPU, SSD and motherboard are in the safe hands of home delivery network :(

I am going to buy a cheap 2560x1440 for monitor, hopefully sub £200 shipped.

I have found a Yamakasi Catleap 2703 (tempered glass) on eBay for £190 shipped from green-sum.

Is this a good product for the price? Looking for a tempered model as I think they look better :)

    Anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks

They are all great for the prices and I think definitely worth a punt considering how much more they cost here. I would probably be more worried about finding the most reliable person to buy off bceause most of them look great to me. Some people are concerned about dead pixels and that might play into your decision. Anyway there are loads of threads on overclockers.co.uk forums and a few other places, I would look there if you haven't already for more info. Less than £200 for 2560x1440 is great

Yeah they all have the exact same panel. Difference lies in stands, aesthetics, inputs, and price. I think I'll go with the catleap 2703 because it's a new model and has the tempered glass. Green-Sum sell hundreds of these korean monitors a week. They said if the product was faulty on arrival they would pay all fees and return postage. And they'll mark as a gift for customs :)

At those prices you can't expect after sales support i.e. if something goes wrong later on that's it.
As long as you accept that.

They said if it was DOA or faulty I could return it and they would pay all fees and pay return postage. Can't really ask for more than that with a 1440p monitor for under £200

Yeah but might as well save £130 for what is essentially the same panel. They even have the same monitor as the DGM (just unbranded) for £230 on eBay.

Will probably just go with the 2703 because it looks good and has shiny tempered glass :)

Yeh there's quite a bit of talk about the koren imports from fleebay, some people getting stung by customs too, so Im not sure its always worth chancing it! Each to their own! :)

They have said they'll mark it as a gift with any value that I want to put on it. Should slip through hopefully like many others on these forms :)

Best not to, it's against the law and doesn't make any difference to the charges for stuff over £40.

:D If anyone is interested...... The DGM IPS 27" picture quality is just excellent and seems to handle the games I play without any problems too! God.... I was trying to decide if I should just get one or two.... I still dont know :-( I'll see how I get on with the bigger resolution but .... two's always better than one.... arghh

Just left Frankfurt, Germany! Hopefully it will get here soon! Seems to have gone pretty quickly, 2 days from S. Korea to leaving Germany.

Can't wait till it gets here! Will post some pictures!

Arrived in UK at Heathrow Airport now! It says "Processed at Location LONDON-HEATHROW". It saud "Clearance Processing Complete at LONDON-HEATHROW", does this mean it's got through customs OK?

It sounds like its passed through but quite often if they are going to charge they leave it to the delivery company to collect the money! I think you'll just need to wait and see if your lucks in!!

Don't seem to have gotten any customs fees (yet, touch wood). Can't actually test it yet because my motherboard (last part of my build) still hasn't come (My Hermes Courier).

It's pretty reflective, but the room I am using for my pc can be blacked out completely so no problems there!

Not Half! Once I put it on my desk I won't need to move it again! Motherboard is "out for delivery", so once I put my PC together today I will test the screen for dead pixels (hopefully none, touch wood)!

    Update please!

I'm looking for a cheap 27" monitor and these Korean ones have caught my attention. I'm in UK too (is this a UK forum?) so this is quite handy.

    :)

Probably not what you want to hear, but the power supply blew up (stopped working really, a bit over dramatic). I don't really know why this was.

I plugged it in to the mains and turned it on and the monitor's on/off light came on. I unplugged it and plugged it into a 4-port mains extender and I heard a click and the power supply light doesn't come on like it did before. Don't be put off by this though as it may have been due to me plugging it into an extender and hardly anyone else has been affected by this!

Luckily Green-Sum were very helpful and have sent me out another power supply for free which should get here tomorrow or the day after hopefully (was sent on Friday via DHL Express).

Will let you know what it's like when I have the new power supply! :)

Ow, that must be a PITA!

    I found this:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/browse.html?ie=UTF8&marketplaceID=A1F83G8C2ARO7P&me=A38AZ8I5S9LB73

It's all in UK it seems. I really don't know enough about these monitors, and they all sound the same to me!
I don't see your one on that Amazon page though.

How much did you end up paying altogether in Sterling?
I really want one but I don't know which! :p

EDIT: I was looking at the one you purchased, it has no HDMI? That's a deal-breaker for me. I need HDMI for my PS3. I'll browse the other ones on Green-Sum's eBay.

They all have the same panel

    The main differences are:

    Tempered Glass (Like mine)
Inputs (mine only has Dual DVI)
    Aesthetics (including stands)
    Price

Mine cost £190 delivered using DHL 2-5 days delivery from Green-Sum on eBay. I didn't get any extra charges from customs and they are very good at helping with problems (ie my power supply).

It's now $5 cheaper than what I paid for it on eBay (Damn!) lol

All of the ones from amazon will still be shipped from Korea (unless they are more expensive due to the import duties the seller would have had to pay). I didn't get any though :)
