    Currently I have a Denon 3802 and a Mission FS2AV speaker kit.

The DVD player will probably be a Denon 2910 - unless anyone knows of a better option for around £600?

I'm looking to spend around £2k on replacing the speakers with either a 5.1 or 6.1 speaker kit. They have to sound good with music as well as film but also look good.

All the speakers have to be the same colour and be of a light wood finish - birch, light beech etc.

For positioning, the main speakers can either be standmount or preferably floor mounted. The centre can be either wall or standmounted. And all the rear/side speakers must be wall mounted.

One final requirement is that any 5.1 packages must be easily upgradeable to 6.1 with another pair of matching same make/range speakers.

So the only options I have found are: -

    Quad L series 5.1 package for £1930ish
Acoustic Energy Aelite 5.1 for £1900ish

Any other suggestions or thoughts on the above?

    Thanks in advance.

Not quite meeting your 'all light wood spec' - the bipole/ dipole surrounds don't have the Maple side panel options you get with the rest of the range but theses are worth a look/listen.

You can have a 5:1 System 2200 set up for £1.8k (UK SRP) and if you want you can replace the 2200c with the more upmarket (but similarly voiced) 4200c and just sneak in under your £2K ceiling.

    See - http://www.atlantictechnology.com/system_2200.htm

Expanding the system is very simple and as the 1200, 2200 and 4200 systems all use similar drive units you can either add in a set of low cost 1200LR-S for rear effects or upgrade the front LR to 4200LR speakers and move the 2200LR to the rear (lots of options).

    Any questions please shout.

Monitor Audio Bronze/old silver/gold (should be able to fit in the budget with G10s front and back)
    JM Lab Chorus/Cobalt
    Mission M5
    B&W 600/CM

I would ditch the associated subs and grab something with a bit more kick though.

Thankyou - that gives me some more options to look at. I do like the look of the JM Lab kit. Never heard of Atlantic before. Thanks again.

You could probably get a complete mission 78 series setup for £2000 now.
