No...but my tastes lean towards The Meters, Edgar Winter and The White Trash, Quazzar, Mandrill, T-Connection, A.W.B., L.T.D., Chaka Khan with or without Rufus, the original Bar-Kays, Tower Of Power, Blood,Sweat & TEARS, Sly & the Family Stone, Graham Central Station, Wild Cherry, Mother's finest, Crown Hieghts Affair, Madhouse, Isley Brothers, Jr. Walker, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, Otis Redding, Clarence Carter, Brecker Brothers, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Steve Airington, Bill Withers, Patti Austin, Tom Browne, Arthur Conley, Aretha, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Busboys, Ray Parker with or without Raydio, Marcus Miller, Memphis Horns, Neville Brothers, Ben King, Gloria Hardiman, and I really miss the dear departed Roger Troutman, "Mr. Zapp" too. I miss the original Red Hot Chili Peppers too. They were the funkie-est of them all except maybe for Bootsy and George Clinton! Best wishes!:)

I love all what I consider good soul. Mine ranges from the 60’s into the 80’s S.O.S. Band Just Be Good To Be Good To Me is one of my favourite tracks. The intro is a real cocker and sends tingles up my spine and gets me in the groove.
As are O’Neal’s If you where here to night, Peabo Bryson’s If every your in my arms again, Eugene Wilde’s Gotta get you home tonight, Champaign’s How about us and Dennis Edwards and Siedah Garrett(what a nice surname) with Don’t look any further.
There are some good tracks on two cd’s called Old Skool and Old Skool Reunion

I have an Album by Shalamar, called Friends.

It is the only album I own, in which I can claim to love every single track. It has to be one of the greatest albums of this type, ever to have been produced IMHO.:smashin: :smashin:

I love it as well. EWF is one of my favourite bands. Back in the days when dance music was played by musicians and not machines.

Ahhhh, so i'm not totally alone.

    Sofaboy.
Check out a series of compilations called 'Mastercuts'
They have some cool 'Classic 80's Groove' CD's.
They do all genres, Classic House, Funk, Rare Groove, Electro, Hip Hop etc..etc...
Usually, you'll get the full 12" versions, which is cool.
The best mainstream compilation i've heard is a CD called
'100% Pure Groove Vol.2' which came out about 1996.
Had some mad tunes on it....(quite hard to get hold of now)

It appears that many of the 80's soul albums have been remastered over the last couple of years, so you should be able to pick up most of the stuff from my original list..

Tis the soundtrack to many a summer chillout !

Hopefully, i'm educating my nearest neighbours in the art of summer soul chillout sessions.

(Or maybe they just think i'm a total spankhead of the highest order!!!!!!!)

I have Funky Town on an LP and playing it on my Linn in stereo it seems I have a 3D front stage when the guy on the tinny percussion thing (sorry I do not know the name of the instrument). It seems to move backwards about 6 feet.

I also remember one that Legs and Co dancing to some other good tunes Rodney Franklin, Groove????? Dancing round a very large settee. And one where they poped in and out from some very narrow scenery I cant thing of the tune but will update when I get the tune Groove out of my head.

Did anyone use to listen to Robbie Vincent’s soul show when he use to have a soul show on Radio 1 on Fridays 23:00 till 01:00?

Think the LP sounds good, you should hear the 12" single with it's wide grooves chocked full of db's. I have a whole collection of 12" singles from when I used to grab extra bucks D.J.-ing.

I have The Whispers' Rock Steady, Kajagoogoo's big hit, Shalamar's Inbetween The Sheets, Prince's Housequake, Bananarama's Rough Justice, The Mary Jane Girl's My House, and a couple of hundred more. Some of them I like alot...some of them I got to please the crowd. I nominate ROCK STEADY as the song to beat for sweet, smooth R & B. I like all the covers I've heard of it too. Keep'em coming!

Blimey - this takes me back

Soultrain on TV with Roger from Zapp and his 'talkbox' -
Alexander O Neal and Cherrelle's Saturday love on 12" vinyl and getting a 'slow dance' to Freddie Jacksons 'Rock me Tonight'

Then discovering electro on the streetsounds label

    Happy days:smashin:

How about 'The Controllers' - Stay

Or how about 'Surface' - Happy

    Wiked slices of dreamy Soul/R&B.........

Some of the 80's Funk/Soul is priceless.
These groups/individuals made music to last for decades.
    Great 'feel-good' music.

Some of the new remastered stuff sounds crystal clear

    'Computer Love'

Not sure who you use for your music purchases - but take a look at:

Link to their classic section for this thread but worth a look at the whole site
