I looked for the answer in various online website, but they were all rather vague.

To take a guess, the ideal place to put a projector would be centre screen. But is is best to ceiling mount, or put the projector below the screen etc etc?

There's no need for 'convenience' in where I place it, as it's going in my bedroom and I can stick it anywhere really.

    So, where's best?

    TIA

    Dimmy :)

The answer depends on the projector. :)

A Z2 for instance is 'best' centred on the screen .. an HT1000 has an image offset which means it's below the bottom of the screen .. an AE300 sits just above the bottom of the screen.

The answer is when the projector is at right-angles to the screen .. and inherent offset like the HT1000 will dictate its' vertical position, horizontally it'll be centred.

Ceiling or table/stand mount is pure convenience or other ergonomic/logistics reasons.

I thought that the Z2 naturally projected up from the unit, so that the zero shift vertical position is with the PJ in line with the BOTTOM of the screen. Could any Z2 owners confirm?

I have a Z2 .. vertically the lens appears centred when it's half-way up the screen.

Manual's at home, can't check what it says.

    Yep, depends on the PJ.

Laterally you should always position centre-on.

Vertically, many have an offset that means that the ideal position is
    - mounted upright - lens aligned with the bottom of the screen
    - mounted upside down - lens aligned with the top of the screen.

but it depends on the chosen projector.

And - distance back from the screen depends on the angle of throw of the supplied lens. Some are wider (read - nearer) than others.

    KraGorn's right.

zero shift on a Z2 is centered on the screen.

The centre of the lens should be in line with the top/bottom of the screen for the HS10.
