A neighbour has fancied my Loewe 9381ZW Aconda for some time. Her tv has just gone to the skip so she's looking at buying an updated version of my two year old model. Looking into it - this would be a Loewe 9381 HD / DR+ in High Gloss Black with Loewe DVB TV2 Digital Tuner / Top-Up TV Upgrade. It needs to be fitted with latest 2550 chassis and the Loewe Digital Photo-Viewer which is now standard. Having read this thread : http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141406 It would appear sensible to ensure the tv is complete with latest software to avoid having to pay £50 or so to allow the DVB TV2 upgrade to work properly by upgrading the software. In other words if the tv is fresh from Loewe / Linn then there should be no reason why a software upgrade will be necessary, certainly not by paying an extra £50 ! Problem is where to buy from ? The dealer that sold us our tv has stopped selling Loewe. Their reason being Loewe were sold cheaply on the internet these days so no point demonstrating them or " selling " the brand. Why do they still have Sony then ? I have a shortlist: £1757.50 plus £299.00 for DVB TV2 ( free fitting if latest software ) plus unspecified delivery charge @ www.petermartin.co.uk £1364.70 plus £34.99 delivery charge but no mention of DVB TV2 @ www.empiredirect.co.uk £1369.89 plus £34.99 delivery charge but no mention of DVB TV2 @ www.buyyourav.com £1368.99 plus £289.99 for DVB TV2 ( free fitting ) plus £34.99 delivery charge @ www.tvandvideodirect.com £1999.99 ( no DVB TV2 upgrade capability ) with free delivery @ Comet My suggestion is that she should buy from John Lewis with a price match to TVANDVIDEODIRECT.COM thus having best price and a free 5 year guarantee. This model is not available on the John Lewis website. She is reluctant to buy mail order - being concerned about after sales service. Can any of our forum members that work at JL confirm this model is available, including DVB TV2 upgrade, and also whether a JL price match is possible with the places mentioned ? I remember JL used to price match Sound & Vision Bolton and Robert Whyte Ltd, but it looks like they don't sell Loewe now, whether they dumped Loewe or the other way around ? I rang John Lewis customer services and may as well have asked the drunk blokes in the kebab shop last night ! When I bought my Aconda, things were simpler, just bought it in the local shop with 15% discount and free installation. Obviously, there are better deals to be had now. Any other suggestions for best place to buy a Loewe gratefully accepted.
