Right then.

My cinema room is nearly complete, the ceiling mount has arrived and my HTPC is done. Now all I need is the video cable to connect my HTPC to my Barco Data 800 and the connector which plugs into the SPDIF out of my Sound Blaster Live 5.1 that enables me to attach the coax cable from my amp. Does anybody know where I can buy these two little wonders from, as I can't seem to find any. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

PS I've heard that the output from the Sound Blaster might be to high for my amp and will need another piece of kit to change this. Is this right?

If its a Live 5.1 it will be fine, you need a mono RCA - 3.5 mini jack converter. You can buy one from RS or maplins for about £1.

You should be able to get your local dealer to have a custom cable made up. Is it VGA Plug to VGA Plug or VGA plug to 5 BNC cable needed? What length etc?

    Thanks Sharky and Desmo

Looking at the run from my HTPC to the Barco it's about 8.75 meters which I think is going to be to long as the signal will degrade too much, am I right in thinking this?

    Cheers

    8 meter's should be OK.
But If you needed to you can boost the signal with a devise from Extron called a P2DAC About £ 100 will take signal 30 meter's.

    Cheers Sharky

I was just a bit unsure that's all. I didn't want to spend money on a cable that was going to give me wonkey results. But you've put my mind a at rest

    Cheers

    Me again!

I've contacted Videk and the longest VGA-5 BNC's they do is 4 meters, which is well short of the 8.75 meters I need. They did mention that I could extend the length of the cable by putting a VGA extension lead on first and then attach the VGA-BNC one but I'd rather have one long cable. Does anybody know anywhere that would do this?

    Cheers

Hey DAVE,,,,Didn't you get the projector from some dodgy guy in Scotland
Just noticed this thread. I've done 10m plus leads of HD15 to 5BNC with no probs. I can have custom hd15 to 5 bnc cables made up to whatever length you wish. Most off the shelf companies do HD15 TO HD15 leads and then sell a break out female HD15 to 5BNC adaptor lead for the end. That too is an option although I prefer as few links as possible.

Off the top of my head cost for a decent cable around £100-£150 but I'd need to check. Email me if you want me to find out for you...it might be less!
