A few places appear to have the infocus x1 at around £600. (pcworld/ebuyer).

Anyone got recommendations, or places that throw in an extended warranty (3 years type thing). I presume it only has 1 year standard.

JL don't appear to do them

I'm pretty sure you get a 2 year warranty with the X1. I got mine from PC World last week.

Educator edition ? Special price ? Wife is doing adult IT training so I guess it could leave the house sometimes... could even reclaim the vat.

So you can just plug the x1 in the vga port of laptop, set the laptop to 800x600 and it'll work straight away ?

Yep, you can just connect your laptop to the vga input and it will work. The lead is supplied.
