    Hi all,

Basically we broke the screen on our 2010 Macbook Air 11", and we would like to get it repaired. Nothing else is broken, just a cracked screen, and it still works when connected to an external monitor.

Looking online Apple themselves charge around £600 to do it, which is obviously not worthwhile on a 2010 model.

Home insurance does cover it but there is a 250 excess and I lose my NCD so again, not really worthwhile. (They'll repair rather than replace.)

I thought about doing it myself, as I have done a few Dells in the past. But looking on iFixit, it seems to be a rather complicated process in comparison to other laptops, so I'm not 100% sure whether I won't mess it all up...

So, where else can I go to get it repaired? Anyone knows?

    Thanks.

If you can get hold of a replacement screen for it, follow Ifixit guide on replacing the screen.

Wouldn't be all that hard tbh, just have to be careful when removing the small connectors. You would save yourself a load doing it.

I replaced the screen on my white MacBook by following a guide on You-Tube. This showed a "cheat" method that reduced the time from hours to only 30 minutes - and it worked fine. Total cost came to well under £100.
