Where is the best place to buy from?

It must be a dealer who will exchange directly without involving Pioneer should a fault arise within the first 14 days or so.

I'd say TLC Broadcast, I recently bought a plasma from them and I haven't yet had chance to test the panel as I'm decorating. But I was informed that if there were any problems that they'd sort them for me.

TLC certainly seem popular. I live in Birmingham so expect quite a drive to wherever I buy from to ensure getting the 5 year warranty. For me aftersales service (immediately after!) is of prime importance.

What are TLC like in this manner? Do they exchange, no quibbles or get pioneer involved?

Sorry to harp on about another point but how noisy (panel buzz etc. are these sets supposed to be? The one I had for a week was very distracting even with power saving 2.

I am determined to get a good one as the picture is excellent.

They do delivery, check their web site for costs. For an indication of their service, see here:

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/plas...ot-these-holes-meant-recessed-5090-pio-5.html

They took this screen back because a couple of holes on the back were recessed rather than flat!

I'd go back to them for my next screen without hesitation. Just hope that my choice will still include Pioneer!

No need to visit them, just order it and get the D&G 5 year warranty (have a chat to them if you want the Pio warranty ;) )

Can't comment on immediate after service as mines been working like a dream so far.

That's what I like to hear or rather not hear!!!

So it is not an inherent problem with all of them. Need to order one quickly.

TLC were fantastic with me, I bought my 5090 about a week before the price cut and they refunded me the price difference with no hassle at all.

Also dragged mates down there for demos of various equipment and they all came away extremely impresssed, if I'm buying anything in future that TLC stock I'll be getting it from them, simple as that

I've got no noticeable buzzing noise with my 5090 either ;)

If paying by card/cash I would purchase from TLC. However they do not offer finance /interest free. Popped into Curry's this evening and they said that they would price match anyone within a ten mile radius providing it is in stock plus they would beat them by 10%. They offered about three different finance options, one was buy now with 10% deposit plus £25 admin charge then you get 12 months to pay off the full balance. If you dont pay off the balance you will get stun with nearly 30% interest charges.

Does anyone know of any better places that offer excellent service plus better finance deals?

The only problem I found with this TV, is the amount of time I waste watching it

Seriously, this it one of the best investments I've made for some time. :smashin:

The saying is, "If it looks too good to be true......."

I always get a bit jumpy when a UK address on a site has the postcode called "zip code", but maybe that's just me. And they only accept Paypal and wire transfers. I personally would hit the back button.

I was wondering that. Is paypal not protected like a credit card???

There seems to be no information about the company even if you google it!

My (minimal) understanding of Paypal protection is, only if there are sufficient funds in the sellers account.

I think some people have claimed via their credit card companies where they used a credit card to finance the funds transfer to Paypal, but when I asked mine they said that it wouldn't be covered as it isn't a direct purchase (you are paying Paypal, it is Paypal who then pay the seller).

Thank you all very much for the advice. I pestered TLC with many questions yesterday and was very impressed with the answers. Ordered the set today and get it delivered tomorrow.

Apparently I have the choice of both warranties and thought I would opt for the D & G because of new for old etc. but may go the Pioneer route because with no more being produced, Pioneer Engineers should be able to keep it going longer should the need arise.
