Sorry if this sounds daft ,but I just bought the27" iMac ,and suddenly realised there was no discs. Is there a recovery partition on the hard drive or what?
Thanks .

There's a section titled "Repairing, Restoring or Reinstalling Mac OS X Software: in the user guide.

EDIT: user guide here.

If you're not comfortable with no disc to use when considering a installation (for whatever reason), then you are not alone. Instructions are here to make a physical installation disc for Lion.

Just realised ,Lion came ready loaded on my IMAC so I haven`t any lion app to work with.

Thanks so much RobM. It took a few mins to put it on a memory stick. Now to think where to put it so it`s handy.

I don't think that's the full OS though, is it? As I recall, it only lets you boot the system, set up disks using disk utility and restore from a time machine backup, you still have to download the rest of Lion from Apple's servers if you want to reinstall.

Think you hold CMD R when booting for recovery mode?
