I've just replaced my av equipment. One piece of the puzzle still left is where to put my DVD's? I've got about 100 or so and they are in a couple of bin bags at the moment.

Any ideas where I can get some shelves in wood or glass etc?

I did see a nice glass display in B&O but they wanted £550. Having said that, I don't want something a bit moody from IKEA.

What do you guys do? :)

I have no shame. I have 2 tall 'n' thin Argos bookcases. :D I double up the DVDs (two rows on one shelf), so I can fit about 50 on each shelf.

I'm crap at building stuff from scratch and I didn't fancy spending a fortune on shelves/bookcases.

Currently mine are in a shelf / cupboard but I have seen some glass racks at IKEA which could interest me (though I am actually not a friend of IKEAs) ...

I got a lovely full height bookcase, 2 and half feet wide, about 5 shelves. Cost me about £90 from my local pine furniture emporium, matches wonderfully with the res of my stuff, easy to build and of course the biggy, everyone sees my dvds!

I've mine on a custom built (good old dad ;)) Mahogany shelf rack. It was originally built for Video Cassettes but houses DVD's just as good. I think there's room for around 220 DVD's (all spines visible) so it will be a while yet before it's full.

I think the thread starter means where are your dvds put that are not in a player, it's aimed at folks with possibly more than one disc. :)

Errr it was a joke, I'll admit a poor one, but a joke non the less. I keep mine in a cheapo B&Q shelving unit.

It's about 2m tall with 5 shelves inside.
Room for at least 100 DVDs maybe more.

    I like that one

For me it's an Ikea 6ft bookshelf, it's taken a midi system, around 150 VHS tapes and about 40 DVDs. Only cost £60 and looks fine.

I looked for ages for a decent DVD storage rack and eventually decided on an MM252 from Boltz USA .

With over 500 DVDs I've now just ordered my third. Delivered within a week. Fantastic unit, amazing quality and looks just amazing. I've wall mounted mine but they don't recommend it.

The first 200 DVDs I bought are kept at some thieving b*stards house. The rest I keep on 5 shelf self assembly thingies from Wickes costing 20.00 each. They hold 50 per shelf:)

I have to admit that I quite like Jasey's bin bag idea:D

    Right, thanks for the ideas so far;

    1) Leave them on the floor or in the bin bag
    2) Buy another 100 dvd players. (Still not funny) :D
    2) Get someone to do a bit of DIY.
    3) Go to Wickes, Argos or Ikea
    4) Buy a mummy's tomb - nice 1.
    5) Or buy a big bit set of Meccano from the USA.

The other question I had - Does anyone keep them in any particular order? If so what sort and do friends or family understand or think the whole thing is a bit sad?

I was planning Alphabetical but could be swayed and do a Block buster - Action, horror, Sci-fi maybe even a top ten :D

    ;)
