    Hi, all. :)

I normally buy R1 DVDs from a shop called SRS in Leicester Sq, central London.

A good thing about this shop is that they always get new releases at least 1 week before the release in USA.
But the shop charges DVDs too high. (24 quid each). :(

Well, sometimes I order online from http://www.dv-depot.com/
Very reliable, reasonable price and DHL shiping. :)

Is there any R1 DVD shop that I'm not aware of in central London ??

Expect to see www.play.com appear in most of the replies.

I buy my Region 1's pretty much exclusively from Play or DVDBoxoffice. Box office normally works out cheaper but you can end up waiting weeks for delivery.

    Same here.

    I get mine from www.play.com or www.dvdboxoffice.com

but discs take a couple of weeks or so from dvdboxoffice. Play are good but sometimes dont have what I´m after.

www.ezydvd.com.au have a pretty good reputation but I havent used them myself yet.

I've used EzyDVD a few times and have found them very good. Delivery has always been 4-5 days, which seems pretty impressive to me for half way round the world.

I've been using Play 247 for nearly two years now, BUT ...

    1. Their order processing times are getting longer. About a year ago, orders used to often be despatched same or next working day, now orders seem to take a minimum of 3 days to despatch.

    2. R1 titles now all seem to come from Belgium which takes longer and means that there's no Recorded Delivery / tracking number.

    3. If you wish to change your card details, ensure that you leave a good gap before ordering again, and expect your old card to be debited by mistake for a short time after you change the details.

    4. Does ANYONE work on their customer services area??? Do they even have one? The phone line is constantly jammed or ignored and it took me over two weeks and 3 e-mails (none of which they replied to) to get my problem resolved. Which was a problem that they created!

Having said that, they still usually have the best prices and manage to get things delivered before other rival companies. IMHO - They just need to employ more staff and improve their customer service and response times back to the level they were at before they moved their R1 operations to Belgium.

I use www.play.com and www.ezydvd.com.au for most of my movies but I have found www.dv-depot.com to give an excellnt service, some very good prebook prices a flexicart system to hold discs in wait for you and an excellent DHL shipping option that works out very cost effective when buying several dvds at once also very customs friendly:cool:

Definately use Play. As long as you can wait 3-5 days for delivery. I must have ordered 60 dvd's/cd's by now and not had one problem with them.
They also e-mail you when they have despatched your item.
    Good luck with your purchases!

    here's my input...

been using play.com for a few years now but since sept. 11 their prices have gone up for some reason.
Now I'm using www.dvdpricesearch.com to find the cheapest but the delivery times are longer from the US than play. Its a choice: price or time.
But there seems to be a new company on the map. www.dvdsoon.com and some their dvd's are quite a bit cheaper than anyone else, look for A.I. Does anyone know more about this company?

    Marcoeser,

Just clicked your link to dvdsoon, got the following error:
    "An unexpected event occured.
The Administrator has been notified. Sorry for the inconvenience.
If you just tried to place an order, do not worry as it has not been recorded in our database and your credit card has not been charged."

    Yeh really good website!!!

I always use www.dv-depot.com based in Canada. Customer service is excellent and delivery by DHL (in 2 days) costs just 10 bucks. Order discs 2 or 3 at a time keeps the delivery charges down - wouldn't want to pay 10 bucks per disc.
