Might seem a silly question,my current pc was all bought from the net bought everything separate and someone built it for me,but since day one i hadnt been happy with it,has never been great at watching fast moving things or slow things, you get tearing on it just like the problem with games.

So now im ready to get another pc as my one is now outdated, im not going to get someone to build it for me so the decision is to buy a ready made pc from websites or just get one from pcworld? ive got two thousand to spend but dont think i will need to use all that money.

Tearing is unusual in anything outside games, I'd have suspected a software problem first.

What sort of PC are you after? I'd buy a desktop from a very different place than I'd be a laptop, high end from a different place to low end and a peripherals from a different place to a desktop base unit.

My last PC was a secondhand desktop and ebay turned out to be the best place to buy that from.

PC World do have occasional bargains but they're one of those places where the normal prices are higher than competitors (so they can have bigger sales etc.)

Obviously I can't advise you on how much to spend without knowing the first thing about the system you want. Generally I'd say it'd be unusual to spend more than about £500-600 unless you want a high end machine or for certain demanding uses.

Hi

I first started to notice the tearing when i was playing games,But then started seeing it on things from youtube,You wouldn't be the only one to suspect it to be software related,But i had wasted so much time trying this and that and nothing ever seems to stop it,So many times i did a format just to see what it was like with just the needed software.

Im after a desktop that can cope with watching HD films and editing&converting videos from my video camera,Then the normal stuff heavy web browsing with multiple tabs open,And of course having a good amout of staorage for my videos and music.

Not into games anymore.

If I wanted a traditional desktop with extra hard drive bays, expansion slots, standard parts etc. then I'd buy from a site offering a full list of the parts and configuration options. Pre-built systems from the likes of Acer and Lenovo tend to be under-specced (many still don't have DisplayPort and an SSD as standard) and are often overpriced. I haven't looked around lately but examples would be CCL, PCSpecialist, Scan, Novatech.

If I was buying a smaller integrated system (Mini PC) such as a Fujitsu Q520 or an all in one then I'd buy it from whoever had it cheapest. LaptopsDirect, Misco, Dabs, Ebuyer etc.

I would tend to use existing peripherals and if one needed replacing at the same time as the computer I'd buy it separately. It's certainly worth looking at deals with them included but I wouldn't expect much from them.
