Okay guys and girls I currently have a PSP on pre-order from Amazon.co.uk. Having just seen that the UK launch has been put back until May, I am now thinking of ordering from USA. Any suggestions on where I can put in a pre-order for a US model, I would really like not to have to pay import duty! :nono:

Firstly, how can it have been delayed when it never had a date in the first place?

Secondly, how can anyone know for sure?

Thirdly, it MIGHT be delayed but my sources still say 18th March.

Fourthly, try the search engine that is on this site. A little effort will take you to this thread which is still current (last post a few hours ago) which gives you a few suggestions.

Fifthly, I guess (unless anyone can tell me different) that it is very difficult nigh impossible to avoid import tax. Luck of the draw!

dude the majority of that is bull. you dont have the first clue in what to do

    1) it was penned for the end of march.

    2) your sources are outdated.

    3) he was asking about current prices for us pre orders

    4) its **** easy getting past import tax, just get them to mark it odwn to £20 as a gift and there you go.

    1. Where is the official announcement that it was penned in for the end of March?

    2. My sources are current (as of Saturday) - show me PROOF it has been delayed!

    3. The thread I pointed him to shows current prices for pre-orders from America! Here are some quotes from that thread:

    4. Good luck finding a established retailer to risk marking it down by that much - though I didn't say it was impossible. And learn to spell.

    5. You're a ****!

This place is full of people too lazy to actually read around, and quick to jump down other peoples throats for trying to help.

By far the most unpleasant forum I have visited. Probably wont bother sticking around.

Hey buddy i have a huge ladder in the shed, you want to borrow it to get off that high horse your on.

    Chill, yeah.

Right the PSP was down for a Christmas release HERE, then went to March but has since been put back to early summer release. Read around and you'd know that.

Oh and chill he was only asking a question and to me it was you coming across as up himself.

If you decide not to visit then thats your call but in my experience this place is very friendly, maybe its like i said and you came across wrong.

    Anyhow back to the topic.

VideoGamesPlus will be listing prices soon for the PSP hardware and they WILL mark it down for you and you WONT pay import tax, over 20 orders and never a hit from my experience.

Wait and you'll get a US PSP with RR for about £175, just a few weeks to go.

How do you know the US version will be £175? The us version will be the value pack and you get spiderman movie in the pack.

I will wait for the US version too though I wont bother with the bundle pack if it is pos because it is supposed to be poor. I rather spend the extra money on a big memory stick.
How do dead pixels occur? Is it when playing fast moving games it burns the picture into the screen? I have heard about the dead pixels, anoulouge stick is very fragile, battery does not last long and the games fall out if you tilt the machine.

Dead Pixels are part of the manufacturing process nothing to do with the games, luck of the draw if you get one. Ive also heard the buttons are a bit iffey, the battery life really depends on so many factors but around the 2.5 hours seems average and yes the games have been falling out under extreme tilting (but as some top bod at sony said "this machine will be mainly used in the home") . But will Sony fix this? i doubt it. There might be lots of grown men on there knees on the train under seats getting sued for sexual harresment, as the kids and there parents would have gone for the more ££££ friendly Nintendo DS.

If you have everything at full whack then the battery life is about 3 hours, but you wont so expect 4-6 hours easily.

Ordered my DS from a company in Newcastle , Gbax who seem to import themselfs and sent direct to us there by missing customs charges to the punter though no doubt built into their cost to us.
They did have Japanese PSP's mentioned on their website and will no doubt get the US ones in which i will try for in due time. Found them to be very quick and not too badly priced for the convenience.

I picked up my DS when I was in Canada last year - v. happy with it, just roll on the games.

I had pre ordered my PSP from Amazon but cancelled it due to a) the delay b) the dead pixel problem. Am shocked that people have had dead pixel DS consoles (but maybe that's because of transit?) as mine and the other 2 that were bought were all cool and groovy. Am currently thinking of getting a friend to pick up a PSP and when they come over visiting, they can bring it with them - maybe that's the only easy way of escaping customs and a damaged screen UNLESS the dead pixel problem is at the manufacturers end. If it is, shouldn't Sony's quality control be.....well better quality?

I have rung a few places and this is what they say. The american version might retail at £175 with ridge racers but the companies will charge a much higher place due to the shortage of them.
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=SONY_PSP1000K for £220 you get the value pack and the games are £28 but there is a waiting list of 50 people though they are getting stock in quite reguarly.

http://www.videogameimports.com/get_hw.php?product=805&side=1 £250 for the value pack there and games are £40 though you get it next day

http://www.gbax.com/new/psp.html £260 for the value pack and it comes with ridge racers.

I am going to wait and see how much my credit card statment is before ordering one but prices are finally dropping to a more reasonable price.

where d'you get some of the prices from?

    gbax are £311 with VAT

you got to be careful that you go all the way to almost paying so you know how much they actually costs with taxes and delivery.

The ones on my buyers guide give as final a price as i could make out for each site

    www.ballofodd.co.uk

look at importmadness.co.uk - be careful they are actually based in canada and fiddle the tax, but are under investigation from Customs & Excise.

    50 on the waiting list?

I think the great british public is starting to wake up to the PSP revolution.

Imagine what is gonna be like in a few months time when its in the stores... Gonna be very hard to tell people I had two out of the first batch and not sound like a t**t - see i do already.

I am seriously thinking about ordering one this weekend but not sure if I should wait the for US console.
I know it is region free however I have read that the publishers can put a region lock on their games if they wish.
My other issue is I want ridge racers, everybodys golf and ape acadamy but as the txt will be in Jap will it cause any problems witrh me enjoying the game or are they all simple games to play and understand what everything is.

I picked up a PSP value pack + RR + screen protector + uk power lead for £250 all in while in London on Monday. Nice bit of kit and no dead pixels on mine (inspected it before parting with the cash)
