Where can I get a good 2.35:1 ratio fixed frame screen? It needs to be white matt 1.2 or 1.3 gain. Side masking would be nice.

    Thanks

This has got my brain going.
2.35:1 material is only recorded within the 1.85:1 frame ie black bars top and bottom. Or sometimes within a 1:33 format.

I presume you then intend to use the side masking to display 1.85:1 and zoom the image in somehow

Surely what you need is a 1.85 screen with top bottom masking? Or have I missed the point

    Roland,

I'm going for a fixed height setup, I'll be switching from 1.78:1 to 2.35:1 either using zoom or an anamorphic lens.

Ok why didn't anyone shoot me down?
For 1.85 of coarse I meant 1.78:1

thinking about it, what you are suggesting is exactly what the cinemas do.

Jeff: I take it you are going fixed panel route....Trying to do exactly what I'd like to. Except I'm not sure it's possible to get the quality I'm after fixed panel route....

Stewart make their screens to whatever spec you require. Alternatively why not buy a section of screen material and make your own frame. Either way if you contact me I can get prices.

    Thanks Gordon,

As soon as I can confirm native 1280x720 support from a PC I will be buying the Sharp XV-Z9000. I'll work out exactly what size I need and send you an email.

    Cheers,

    Jeff
