Hi Folks, after much research and review reading I've decided what I really want is the Garmin Nuvi 660FM.I've got a budget of £300,there's a few new ones on Ebay at £350 delivered, has anyone spotted a better price anywhere?
I can get the Tomtom 720FM for £275 from Dixons online, basically the same thing, but I'm leaning toward the Garmin, any thoughts & comments gratefully recieved.
    Thanks,Scunnyjack.

Hi, DABS direct are are doing the 660 for £280.

My experience of FM transmitters for my iPod is that they are worse than useless. if the FM on the 660 is of a similar level then you may want to forgo that particular function and just get a vanilla 660.

I negotiated a Sat Nav when I purchased my new car recently - I didn't want an integrated system, so I opted for the Nuvi 660FM. I had the cradle hard-wired, so I don't need to use the cigarette power lead.

I have found the FM transmitter to be good, there is little distortion. Of course, you have to search for the best frequency, but this is made easy with the Nuvi. This means that it's great as an MP3 player.

The bluetooth connection is spot on, and the Sat Nav works perfectly as a hands-free kit.

It's a handy piece of kit, and I'd recommend it to anyone who has the budget for it.

I think that Halfords sell the 660FM for £399 but as far as I can see this is the same as the 670FM apart from the fact that the 670 has US mapping as well as European. I saw an ad in the paper last week for Currys selling the 670FM at £320.
Not sure how long the offer was for though.

I too have tried a pesky FM transmitter and was truly dissapointed with it.

I would like to think that a Garmin one for that money would be better, though I have a niggling doubt. Where I am located only had 2 spare bands on the list supplied, (previous FM transmitter), and these were just about OK. As soon as I driven out of our neighorhood, it would recieve interference, and you would have to retune about every 5 miles or so. Very fiddly and not worth the hassle.

Can you coment on your Garmin experience in this respect?

Also what happens with regard to priorities on screen and audio when a call comes in with music and sat nav operating?

    Thanks in advance

The OP was looking for the 660FM. AS far as I am aware this is only sold by Halfords and is not the same as the 660. The Dabs equiv of the 660FM is the 670FM for which Dabs are charging £365. Best bet for the 660FM is Currys (6570FM) at £320 which with MBNA vouchers takes it down to £290!

Cheapest I can find the 660FM is £349.99 at Halfords. I can't see the 660FM (or the 6570FM) at Currys. Anyone know where you can get this cheaper?

I bought a 660FM in Halfords on Tuesday for £299.99 in store.

Very pleased with it so far.
