I have an existing 12" active subwoofer for which i would like to change the driver unit. Initially i was going to use a Vibe 4ohm subwoofer but was informed that the voice coil would probably burn out. Is this true?
If so dose anyone know where i can scource an 8ohm sub. I have looked on the net with no luck so far.

I am outside of my own knowledge comfort zone here, but from what I have read, sub cabinets and drivers are a matched pair, or should be. Mixing and matching may not give you the results you are after, or it might. I guess it depends on your expectation of the new driver. There are a couple of popular web sites in the States if you don’t mind paying for s/h. Overall, might be less buying local to you.

yeah i'd use wilmslow audio if i was you. I've used them in the past and they are very helpful. Tell them everything you can about your present driver and sub and they may well be able to reccommend a specific driver for you.
