I should be ashamed probably ?
Nope. This brand is literally getting away with murder misleading customers with qled which is just an enhanced edge led.
If the pricing was competitive, I may say nothing but pricing them like oled and not even being fald...unforgivable !!!!

Perhaps people who are not informed are probably still buying Samsung. However, trying to fool people with silly naming while substantially increasing prices will take Samsung a long time to recover from. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

I have NEVER rated Samsung as a brand,it just goes to show how good their marketing campaigns are though...but the actual products always leave a lot to be desired...pretty products, but very overpriced with "A Fisher price" looking settings.

Seriously !!! , I would put my 55ks7000 up against any comparable TV , it makes the competition look rubbish ....

Yes tlbut of course that is my opinion...but I've never been impressed by the cartoon like pictures, overblown colour's,shocking motion and the overall experience...but if your happy with what you have then keep on enjoying it. ;-)

to be fair, the 3 samsung tv's i have had have all been fantastic....not sure what the cartoony issue is as even with a small bit of tweaking mine have given excellent images and motion ...as good as and better than any toshiba / sony tv's i have had....but.....i do think this years QLED's are a step too far, over priced tweaks to last years tv's from what i can see.

That is because Samsung's 2017 line is mostly a step backwards with cheaper edge-lit LCD or in the Q9 Series case, way way overpriced for the tiny improvements in color volume you get. My guess is they thought they would QDCF ready in time and instead had to throw out these inferior "QLED" instead. If you want FALD you need to look at the top of the line Sony and Hisense.

To be fair, my grip is with Samsung 2017 qled TVs and pricing. The 2016 range was very good especially the ks series
After that, it is another story

The TVS are out. However. You would be crazy to pay those prices when you can buy into OLED for less.

Samsung has gone to pot since 2014's models, the 6400 series in 2014 were amazing for the price, everything that's come since is a mess, yes that includes the KS8000.

I certainly won't be changing my 55KS7000 for anything out this year.
Best set I've ever owned.

In some defence there is cashback offers now knocking for example 400 quid off the 65 Q7. This puts the t.v. in line with other new release prices. I'm sure the haters here will also moan about that.

Mate, I have nothing against Samsung owners or last year TVs which I recommended to 3 friend (ks8000)

This thread can continue in peace. Some of us are infuriated (word not strong enough) by Samsung literally mis-selling and false marketing and pricing.

If they released their range at right price and marketed their qled with some honesty, you will not hear us...

I keep seeing people without av knowledge being conned everyday in places like jl or curry or whatever...
Come here see our qled and it is latest technology even better than oled...

So enjoy your Samsung and I mean it. Some of us done their job of warning forum friends especially newbies...

Enjoy the sun

I've had my UE65KS9000 since release and after calibrating it looks stunning. Handles motion very well (PS4 Pro & live sport). The 4K UHD display is lovely, beautiful colours, not over saturated or "cartoon" like. Nicely balanced brightness with HDR. For me it ticked all the boxes.

That said their 2017 range is an utter joke!! o_O I'd be intrigued why someone would purchase one of the 2017 Samsungs above what else is available for the same (or much less).

I figure I'll upgrade in 2018/2019 depending on what's available, but very unlikely it will be a Samsung unless they buck their ideas up! I'm hoping the OLEDs can nail motion and peak brightness.

An intriguing observation:

"When testing brightness, most reviewers display a small white box against a black background and measure the brightness level of the box.

Consumer Reports doesn't like this method because TV companies have learned how to game the test to score higher brightness numbers. Instead, we use a test pattern that places that white box against a moving video background, which more closely approximates real-world video. Using the standard pattern, the brightness levels of the two sets were fairly close. But using our special pattern, the Sony TV's brightness was more than double that of the Samsung QLED set."

That's the Q7 vs XE93.

Samsung currently offering 18 months 0% credit, plus up to £500 trade-in for your old television (dependant on chosen model), suggests QLED's aren't selling as well as Sumsung would like.

Thought I would point the thread originator to the separate Samsung owners forum, but even there it seems no one is discussing the new stuff, just KS series bargains... quite a change from a few years back!

The strategic decision to not go OLED may be backfiring - next CES there better be some meat to the QLED marketing or market share starts to plummet

A Q7 costs almost exactly what the Sony XE93 does and the Sony has a significantly better backlight system. The Q9 is just plain ridiculous, no 65" edge LED should cost 5k. And there is no FALD model at all, surely if you're not embracing OLED like Sony and Panasonic then you've got to have a top FALD model, something to rival the ZD9 is what they should have. Samsung are a joke this year.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Samsung are a joke. For example the 65 q7 will cost me about £2400 with the 400 off promotion, double points on John Lewis card, plus a shed load of vouchers built up from using the credit card. Given this value it puts the tv in a reasonable bracket compared to say the Sony xe93 which would cost me a lot more .

Samsung pricing was extortionate so glad you can get £400 off, that makes it look a little more reasonable. Though I would never buy a Q7/8 because of the local dimming system anyway. The XE93 is a much better TV and should cost more.
