I see that this new remote has been available in the States for a couple of weeks. Anybody know when it is due for release in the UK?

Not sure about release date, but we will get the 885 which is a European version with the red/green/yellow/blue buttons instead of just page up/page down on the 880 :)

Are there any other differences that one would forsake if they got the US 880 model (at a cheaper price)?

    Thanks

None that I'm aware of. I've read some US posts that state they'd prefer the Euro version coz you get 2 extra buttons. But you're right about price - those 2 extra buttons are gonna seem pretty expensive after the $ -> £/€ conversion.

I wonder how well the 885 will work with Sky+. I realy like the layout of the sky+ remote, but if the 885 is just as easy to use I'll deffinitely get one to replace my 7 remote controls.

I have just received this reply from Logitech on the availability of the H885 remote.

Thank you for enquiring about the H880 harmony remote. Please note that the model that will be applicable to the European region is the H885 model and this is scheduled to be released around the end of June.

Still some time to go, and from provisional pricing I have seen on some webistes, at quite a premium over the H880...

I've just been looking around at other places that are already listing a price for the 885, and they all seem to be £165+, so the CCL price is looking even better. Might be tempted to grab muself one of the 2 units they are expecting

Saw the 31 May mentioned by at least one other retailer as the expected date of arrival.

I can't help but suspect that the CCL price is a misprice on their part. It's just soooo much cheaper than anywhere else, and you can't imagine a new product from the likes of Logitech being so heavily discounted so soon to the market.

Also, the CCL site still shows 2 available from 31/5, even though at least two have now been ordered. So, there is no way of knowing whether you have been allocated one of the two units they are expecting, or whether there have been more than two ordered and you are at the end of a very long queue for future stock ...

Despite my utter failure to get my old 655 to do just about anything, others have had considerable success. There are some pretty involved problem workarounds from some forum members if you do a search on "harmony".

The link below has some exhaustive reviews of the entire Harmony line:

Hi guys. Has anyone confirmed that these from cc or scan, will come with the UK plug and not the EU one. Pixmania has those but say they will come with an adapter. I am a bit wary to order one if I am not 100% sure this is the UK model and not an import from the continent.

    Cheers.

Russraff, that's an interesting review at THW. They are a bit dismissive of the 655, as they have eyes only for the 880.

I have been following the progress of the 880 aand am glad that a Euro version, the 885 will be with us soon. Definitely on my shopping list.

Would it make any difference if it was from Europe? Chances are that a UK version will be just a European one with the adapter anyway. In fact, Scan et al are probably selling the UK version.

No adapter for me. The plug tends to fall off it every once in a while. Thanks.

Guys, thanks for the replies. I can wait for confirmation this is a UK model for sale. I am not in such a hurry. I can live another month with 6 remotes to be sure I wont have to cut off the thingy and invalidate the warranty (thank you very much, this is a brand new model just released in the US, I am not taking any risk if they recall or have to change something, happened to me in the past when I liked to fiddle inside PCs..). Also, yes, adapters are usually very tight... when new.
