When will there be 42 inch plasma screen with 1280 x 720 resolution. Now I can only finde screens with 1024 * 768?

The new Pioneer/Panasonic screens that will be coming I September, are they go to have real HD resolution?

You really want 1920x1080, not 1280x720, and they will come but probably another year or two away.

No the PV500 can resolve all the horizontal lines of info for HD TV and vertical info is not as critical, sclae 1920x1080 down to 1280x1080 on a 9" crt and you will be hard pushed to tell, but the HD standards (including dvd) will be 1280x720p, 1920x1080i, and 1920x1080p. So you may as well get a screen that can do 1920x1080p.

It will have to down scale 1080p though, lossing 30% of the info (detail) available.

Uhm, I don´t think we´ll see 1920x1080 within the next few years...

And I don´t see the need for more resolution. Sure, the more the better. But I´ve seen 1080 LCDs and I wasn´t that impressed with it. You can hardly tell the difference between 720P and 1080 at least with 42"... (IMO)

well if it has no DVB tuner no you cant make it a B model (there is no way to make it a B model anyway as you cant change the serial number even if you replaced the tuner board with one from a B and all other boards and software 1366x768 any good to you?

Well if the bring out 1080p/24 then having a display that can show all the detail would be nice.
I agree that a 1080 screen won't give you much more than a 768 screen with current HD formats.
In fact if you stand in front of a 480 plasma with a 768 plasma of the same brand right next to it, both showing the same HD feed, you have got to know what you are looking for to see the difference from a normal viewing distance.
There is far more important things other than resolution to get right.
