Because its getting on my tits keep switching to terrestrial TV.
Sky is not having ITV. However ITV have their own transponders on the Astra digital satellite and expect to start braodcasting 'later this year'. They will be transmitting all 16 regions too. You will receive the programmes via your Sky Digital stb and they will be free to air as are the current BBC and C4 broadcasts.
There's lots of discussion about this on the Digital Spy forum. Someone who I consider to be a reliable source is saying that ITV will be broadcasting on DSat before November, but we will have to wait and see. As for regions, it is currently thought that you will only be allowed to view your own ITV region - although how this will work in overlap areas is anyone's guess. Note also that not all sub-regions will be present, so if live in Oxford for example you will probably get news from Birmingham.
itv teletext page 125 contains the following:
at a press conference in london this week itvs controller confirmed it would be on sky by the end of the year. itv will become part of the existing sky package . <br />the delay has been caused by tv politics and technical issues. by december a satisfactory system will be in place to allow itv to expand a spokesmen confirmed.
Hmmmm, very interesting! A lot of money at stake here!
