Sorry to have to ask this, but I can’t find the launch date or even the month and year of launch. Does anybody happen to know when it was launched?

Also, I take it the EPG was around before Sky+?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Official launch was September 1st 2001 however confirmed installation dates for pre orders were being taken a few weeks in advance and enquires were being taken from June of that year. However I did read that someone not associated with SKY had SKY+ installed in August, the units were being field tested by SKY employees during 2001.
The EPG was an integrated feature of the original SKY digital service and carried on all SKY digital receivers, for the first couple of years it was very reliable but lacked any sort of timer.
The introduction of the half baked Personal Planner software started the trend of buggy software and random crashes which has plagued SKY hardware ever since:(
