I know S8 was shot in WS, and I seem to recall an alternate ending to S6 (either on smegups or S7 extras) in WS.

S6 was recently shown at 4:3.
And the remastered S1-S3 were cut down to WS.

So, can anyone remember when the switch was?

Season seven was the first one. It should be on TV soon.

Season 7 was also the first to be given that post-production 'film quality' video look.

The Japanese Red Dwarf Retails are all fullscreen and when Season 8 was shown on BBC2 I am sure it was Fullscreen, when has it been shown in Widescreen?

Also, I liked how the show looked upto Season 6, after that it didnt look the same anymore.

Also met the cast, nice people.

Season seven shouldn't be too long, probably after the Darts has finished on BBC 2.

to record 4 on a disc you would be recording at a bit rate of 5.2

pretty pointless for tv from sky IMO

you could record all 8 at a bit rate of 2.6 which should be fine

have a play with different bit rates and their pq on ram before you start burning to -r

Cripsy do you mean can instead of got??

If you dont want to wait until November of 2005 and odnt want to buy the Japanese Season 7 Retail then guess this is your only option :)

Also, I would be recording off Freeview and thought SP would only fit 2 hours so wouldnt that be the best, 2 hours per dvdr which would be 4 episodes per disc.

Why bother? At its finest, Red Dwarf has always been dialogue based, and you don't need surround for that...

Series 7 just started on BBC 2. It is not widescreen. It must have been just series 8 in widescreen.

Strange that. The opening titles S7 and S6 were wide, and so was the 'flashback' from S6. This was why I asked the question originally.

I just checked my VHS copies. It is like that on the prerecorded VHS and also what I recorded of the TV the last time.
