not till my house is double glazed......but this dragging on too long, i would've thought these tv's would've been out by now, or out soon.

i'm also thinking about a panasonic vierra...but i guess i might have to settle for a SP 50. I'm aiming to get my house double glazed next june and at that time i want a TV as well.......i'm not waiting any longer!

but at the moment i'm busy fitting a new kitchen, but it's a big shock to come back here and see nothing new on the market...good grief it's pathetic, what the hell is wrong with this country, we're so damned slooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww   !

I wouldnt say off putting more annoying. Seeing other displays which are availible to other countries and not ours is very annoying as an AV fan. The mitsubishi 82' is the DLP I really want to see in action and possibly own. :lease:

trouble is i spent thousands on the house instead........damn it....... :)

i guess the sp 50 or rd 50 will be good enough for me, but i'm still interested in that new ``floating screen`` sammy, but i fear it'll be ages before it's over here.

They're here now. I'm assume you're asking about the new SP46/SP50 L6HX range.

    Aren't the 6HX models older then 7HX? Does 6HX also have a 2+ chip?

i dont know if this is the same type of tv, the sammy range is very confusing...i used to know everything months ago; but i've forgotten recently :D

i've seen the sp 46, but this one is definitely called the HLR on dealtime/U.S.A but it's a right mess :D

I WISH THEY WOULD NOT CHANGE THE DESCRIPTION FROM COUNTRY TO COUNTRY.

WHY HAVE SAMMY GOT SO MANY DLP's of exactly the same shape/colour/style, this will be even more of a problem when the new pedestal 1080p come out..we'll have 2x 50'' ones and the 56'' version, one of these 50'' ers will be the existing sp50 that we have now..............NOW WHY THE HELL HAVE THEY DONE THIS..

why not have the 2 new ones in a different colour etc..........BUT OH NO THAT'S TOO EASY, they have to confuse us instead......because all 3 pesestals look exactly the same

so which is this new HLR one, i've no idea because they all look the sodding same, it looks like the SP 46 !.........and i bet you the pictures/descriptions on all these crappy little wholesalers are wrong too..i've noticed this 6 months ago.

Malso, The US HLRxx67 range is equivalent to the European SPxxL6HX models, with the exception that in Europe Land we dont get a 56". There's a 42", 46", 50" and 61", out of which I believe we in the UK are only getting the SP46 and SP50. Samsung USA have now launched the HLRxx68 model range that can handle 1080p, who knows when we'll see any of these.

Tufan, the 6HX are new models with the so-called HD4 chip.

    I hope this helps.

yes this helps quire a lot thanks :D

so the sp 50 is the best size...or the sp50 pedestal, the 1080p is a waste of time..maybe for years to come too!

the sp 50 is about 1440 quid so it's cheaper than the pedestal version

I'm totally confused now and maybe someone would like to take this to a new topic:

    SP50L6HX
SP50L6HX Pedestal (does it mean you can not buy the TV without the set?)
    SP50L7HX

    - First of all for 6HX, if there's a new model, shouldn't the model number change? Why should Pedestal be older model?
    - Of L6HX and 7HX, which one is better? If the L6HX has HD4 chip, shouldn't that be better then HD2+ chip?

    Basic Specs: Both 1280x720 HD
    L7HX: Brightness: 1000 cd/m2, Contrast= 2500:1, DNIe (could it be a newer generation then the L6HX)
    L6HX: Brightness: 900 cd/m2, Contrast= 2000:1 (says it has DarkChip), DNIe

I can't see why you're confused. Here's a chronology of the Samsung models:

    SP50L3HX (Pedestal) - mid 2004 (HD2)
    SP46L3HX - Q3 2004 (HD3)
    SP50L7HX (Pedestal) - Q4 2004 (HD2+)
    SP46L6HX - Q2 2005 (HD4)
    SP50L6HX - TBA

    I CAN SEE WHY HE'S CONFUSED, it's a total mess. :D :D

the L6 is no good because even us lot aren't getting the codes correct for the tv's we're talking about.......it needs to be a totally different code for a new tv, they're way too similar..................flipping heck samsung

Err, SP46L3HX = old TV, SP46L6HX = New TV, SP50L7HX = current pedestal model. No one else seems to have a problem with this :)

Well, my confusion is becasue I thought if you come up with a new model, then the model number should indicate that. Which means L6HX shouldn't be a newer model then L7HX if the chronology starts with L3HX.

Also a new model should be more expensive if it also has a better technology, so why is L6HX cheaper  :

And this is the view of the Ausie guys:
    http://www.dtvforum.info/lofiversion/index.php/t21455.html

And Samsung website information is does not give clear differences:
    http://www.samsung.com/me/products/tv/projection/sp50l7hx.asp
    http://www.samsung.com/me/products/tv/projection/sp50l6hx.asp

But then I also saw this. What is a 3P LCD projection TV, is it better then DLP?:

it's just a case of when you finally buy...MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE RIGHT ONE :D :D

for me, this is months away; but it makes the research now a real pain

i think one can safely say, the choice will be either the SP 50 PEDESTAL, THE SP 50 traditional stand (new version) :D :D ...or something else that appears on the market :D :D

    in fact, i'm still totally confused :D :D, but it's a luxuary i enjoy!

``But then I also saw this. What is a 3P LCD projection TV, is it better then DLP?:``

yes now the 56'' LCD DLP looks good, but it'll be expensive and not for sale here in the U.K for ages...........that's one lesson we've learnt isn't it :D :D

two years time?.........dont forget that's Samsung Singapore you're looking at
and not Currys Christchurch :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Since when has that ever been the case. The general rule is that as the technology matures the price tends to come down. Look at the price of a typical PC for example and imagine what you had to pay a year a go. Look at LCDs for example, only six months ago you would have had to pay nearly £3K for a decent 32" display, today you can have even better tech for almost half that.

Also I think you would be less confused if you waited for Samsung to annnouce what's coming to the UK market rather than trawling through their foreign websites to second guess what you think might happen.

1080P a waist of time, with DLP's no, because DLP's won't even handle 1080i nativly.

Without a 1080p DLP we may never get the best of 1080i broadcasts.

Fortuanly i've managed to fix my good old CRT and am content at the moment though i love to get a new screen now, the sammy sp46 and sp50l6 models are in rather short supply. if me CRT will hold out till the end of the year hopefully we'll see something here in the uk DLP wise that will display 1080i in all it's glory.

I though it was already out in the U S of A ? You'd think they would have a review up by now ?

Must admit I'm tempted. The styling isn't my cup of tea but who cares. If my Hitachi 5200 is not compatible with Sky HD then I'm getting one. Is that stand removable or not ?
