People on here are ranting about how great a price the Z3 is at present and I have to say I totaly agree, does this drop in price mean that the next generation are just around the corner??

Does anyone have any info on what to expect from the next generation??

    Cheers

Significant contrast improvement (according to the specs anyway) due to the new iris feature that LCDs are starting to use, ala Sony HS50 and the new D5 panels which apparently have a greater fill than the old panels, so in theory less or no screen door, depending on size and seating distance.

I read that they've done something to the way the current passes through the panels so that VB is gone.

Does that make sense? This was reading www.avsforum.com late at night, with a pint in one hand and a mouse in the other.

Just over 2 weeks to go for 9/9 at CEDIA, then all will be revealed  .

That will be excellent news if that is the case.

So there's a chance the the next wave of LCD PJs will have decent contrast, no SD, no VB and obviously no RBE.

I for one will be going back to an LCD system if this is the case!

I presume, the current resolution (for the ae700/z3 equiv) will stay the same?

I wonder if we will see a decent reduction on the ae700 then?

If you want to find out what is rumoured to be going on, check out the CEDIA rumour thread at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=561692&page=1&pp=30. There are all sorts of tales flying about, some by people who would know!

There is a lot of discussion over LCD moving to 1080P D5 panels and hence blowing DLP out of the water. This would be quite a salvo from the LCD manufacturers and recoup some of the ground lost to DLP, but there is doubt over whether they could even manufacture this, let alone achieve a sub-£2k price (people were speculating at $8k).

I will say that CEDIA has been known to sometimes exceed the wilder rumours flying about, so it's worth watching. The only downside is, there could be an announcement on your dream projector at CEDIA, then no shipped product until January! I would expect the Sanyo Z4 imminently, though.

Nothing is firm at the moment. I suggest you get yourselves logged into www.avsforum.com and www.projectorcentral.com for 9/9, cos that's when the announcements start flowing thick and fast, with people visiting CEDIA posting their finds on the sites.

Interesting to see it has been built around a completely new chasis, and comments that it appears to have a high build quality. Also 12 bit colour processing, it will be interesting to see the real world cr.
