Just got back from having a demo on the 42" Vera in Comet, was really impressed a good price to with a dvd recorder thrown in. I guess there getting rid of the old stock, still not sure if I'm going to wait for the new one or not.

I've got a Viera - if I were you I'd wait for the HD ready ones, unless you've got money to throw once the newer versions come out!

I know what you meen, but I dont have sky so wont really make use of it being HD ready. If freeview dont start broadcasting till 2110 come 5 years time I'm going to want to update anyway. Seems like a good deal with the free dvd recorder and stand for 1195. I guess I just need to spend my money, have always hated waiting!!
    Cheers.

Hi. John lewis are doing the panny with pedestool stand (sorry about spelling) with dvd recorder for 1195.95 so just under 2 grand. You also get a 5 year garentee with John Lewis, Comet only give you 1 year.(again sorry about spelling). They are waiting for stock at the moment but is due in any time. Can't wait!!

Are you sure the JL deal includes the stand?. There is no mention of this on the web site.

As far as I can tell from the web site it comes with the small stand as seen in the picture as the only other stand on offer to buy is the large stand with shelfs. As the small stand it not listed and is pictured on the screen I assume this comes with it. I will be giving them a call 2morro though so will let you know for sure.

John Lewis will price match comet as long as it's a in store price and not a web price. They price matched my LG Plasma with comet and I got a 5 year garantee with it. Just as well as I had them pick it last week and got a refund as there were to many niggles with it I couldent live with, the picture looked a lot better in the store. Thats why I've up my budget to get a Panasonic.I was trying to save money but it always comes down to you get what you pay for.

Lookin at the comet site that offer clearly states "web exclusive price". If any Comet store will match their online deal then you should be able to get JL to price match the store in turn.

Normally Comet order line (telephone) match their web prices. Does anyone know what the normal in-store price for this deal is?.

I think the old model was about £500 cheaper at JL. Hopefully it will be the same this time.

Does anyone have any idea how much the PV500 series will be sold for at John Lewis? With they also come with the free DVD recorder promotion?

    TH37PV500PED - £ ???
    TH37PV500 - £ ???

    TH42PV500PED - £ ???
    TH42PV500 - £ ???

I can't wait to see a side by side comparison against the PE50 series.

US avsforum is predicting a price-war announcement from Panny tomorrow. I wonder if it'll apply to Europe too?

I got first dibs on a 500 when it turns up in Belgium on May 24th, straight from the warehouse.

    We shall see......
