Does anyone know/can explain why I receive the footie on BBC HD in 5.1, whereas, the tennis on the same channel, which is also 5.1 according to my amp, is only stereo??

The Beeb occasionly screw up and flag DD2.0 as 5.1 so your amp gets very confused

It depends how the programme is recorded.

If that was the case then surely the audio wouldn't be decoded correctly?

Okay, understand that but why broadcast the footie in 5.1 and the tennis, which they must have more control of, in 2.0?
