Mine has to be the time a shop assistant in a computer shop that will remain nameless tried to sell me a bog standard floppy ribbon cable for £14 ! ( the drive was 9 quid!)

Told him he was nuts !

The other one which i unfortunately went though with was an urgently required microphone for video conferencing. I knew I could get one in Argos for £4.99 but they had none in stock so I nipped into a major high street electrical store and found the exact same thing but this time as a Creative badged model for £25.00 !

sick I was but I needed it .

I used to sell and install mid-range machines from Digital Equipment (now part of HP via Compaq).

They sold "Country Kits" which every machine had to have. Then they were £25.

It was a 3 pin plug!!!

Any time I have to get new toner for a printer :)
Getting cheaper now to bin the printer and buy a new one :D

Also, SCSI cables. Talk about a total rip off in most PC shops.

I refill my own from this place I use to ring the guy over the phone on a freephone number for inquires and talked to him for ages. They formulate the ink to match the manufactures. The first time I wanted some ink he said they had not got the formula right yet(if they was using the same ink for all they would have had it there and then). Realy nice and helpful guy. :smashin:
