What's this D1/D2 digital output on Jap DVD players?

    BS is HDTV broadcast. I think the D1/D2 is equal or at least similar to DVI (consumer version of the connection instead of the PC type?).

    Seen a few plasmas here on demo with HDTV material (aka "BS high"), looks GREAT!

    they vary. I think D1 is straight interlaced video signal, nearest equivalent is SCART. D2 is progressive scan SD. I think D3 is the first HD format and I'm not sure about D4.
