Clearing out the garage earlier i forgot i had this. my neighbour gave it to me years ago thinking i would wire the garage to the house mains ( yeah right - kaboom !! ) anyway , its sitting there doing nothing , I'm skint - you get the idea. but before i think about flog gin git ( not sure where tho - scrap pies ? , here ? any ideas ) i don't actually know whats its worth .
the cable is black , 1/2 inch thick , the core wire is silver and the writing on the wire says - pirelli cables electric cable 600/1000v auxbs5467 basec. I've got 15 - 20 metres of it . any clever chap or chapess know whats its worth ? looks like its a silver metal , aluminium , a plastic coat then cooper ( six core , i think )

Thats a steel wire armoured cable.

To get any real money for it, you need to strip it right back to the bare copper conductors inside and bin the rest.

Ask around at any places that recycle scrap metal. They'll stick it on the scales and have their rate per kilo or whatever. Cash in hand and job done.

They should be able to tell you what the going rate is.

Copper market is trading at around $3.50/lb, so I'd hazard a guess that you'd get in the region of £4 per kilo. of copper

Which is not allowed, due to the toxic fumes.

Clean copper is nearly 4k per ton, and dirty copper (if you left it intact) is around 1100.

    didnt know this

doesnt work that well anyway, the plastic takes forever to burn and if you get it too hot the copper turns into nothing.

For that quantity, probably not worth your time, effort and petrol money.

    Cheers,
