    Hi all,

when i brought my 50inch panny 3 years ago, i was told you had to be 9-12ft away from the tv to max the image

i saw on one site that a 55 inch is now 8-10 ft

    thoughts?

Is it pointless purchasing a 78" 4K TV with a view to sitting 16ft away from the screen? Or will the picture quality still be better than a 1080 screen?

I would make it fuzzy boundaries rather than lines but a very good guide.

    I would think so.

It's not whether the PQ is better, it's whether you can see the difference at that distance. I would think you can't. According to the graph (and I've seen many the same), 1080p is only just becoming worth it at that distance.

For me, it's what I feel comfortable with and what works in the living space. I watch a 50" from around 9ft, fine for SD and HD

There's almost no 4k material, so don't know why it would be different now to 3 years ago. Blue ray still 1080p, Sky HD etc 1080i

I like the graph, makes me feel glad I didn't bother with 4K this time around :) I'm 8 feet away with a 43" screen.
