done a search couldnt find much on it, looked at the last 5 pages on Rear pro threads and nothing.

this set is meant to be pretty smart, 56" 720p hybrid with amazing colour accuracy and certainley a very bright picture but not much interest ? im sure its tweakable aswell to produce even better picture. the same sort of technology as the £4500 JVC HD-ILA 1080p projetor thats just come out aswell.

there about £1700-1800 inc vat + delivery so is it just too expensive compared with other 50,55" LCD/DLP rear pro TV`s ? id pay that extra ammount just for the fact you dont get rainbows

The problem these days is that it's really not a very good deal compared with the Sony SXRD equivalent. The Sony costs about the same but is a full 1920x1080 rather than 1280x720, and produces (arguably) a better pixture.

the JVC is retailing at £1600 inc vat + delivery i may add. whats the downsides of running 90% of your material in 720p but on a 1080i/1080p screen ?

if JVC released a 56" 1080p HD-ILA screen to compete with the sony with better black levels would it be a close run thing or is SXRD just too far ahead of DLP/LCD/HD-ILA ?

The Sony is the same technology (LCoS - Liquid Crystal on Silicone) as the JVC except 1080.
HD-ILA is just JVC's trade name for this technology.

but JVC stuff will always come down in price faster than sony stuff so in theory if they did a 1080p version you could pick one up cheaper

Yeah seen some reviews on CNET and the like... generally not very well received when compared to say the Sony SXRD 55" rear pro. In other words why get it (apart from the fact its a lot cheaper).

The samsung 1080P DLP rear pro however does seem to offer a cheaper alternative to the Sony for a bit less money and better blacks (controversial), as long as you don't mind the rainbow effect :rotfl: However this is US only I think ?
