LG 50PC1DA Flat Panel TV £1279
    panasonic TH42PX60PED £850
    panasonic TH50PX60PED £1500
    is 8" really worth £650?

Depends of the size of your living room.

Buy the biggest screen you can afford. Plasmas soon look much smaller when you get used to them.

i got a 3 year old lg 42" plasma screen it looks massive for the first week then it was normal, i suspect this will happen to the 50" screen aswell, So is it worth while upgrade to the same size but better picture, or pay over £650/£429 for an extra 8"?

Having advised you to get the biggest you can afford, I must concede that you should also take into account what feeds you intend using and your viewing distance.

Would you say that if it were purely for watching tv rather than movies? I just ordered a 37" but could of had a 42" for less than £100 extra. The thing is I have a projector that I will always use for movies on dvd so the plasma is purely for watching stuff on Sky and playing xbox games. I don't have movie or sports channels or hi-def and after hours of changing my mind I went for the smaller one. Do you think I may regret my decision as it's not too late to change my order?

For the sake of £100 I would go for the 42". It depends on viewing distance but mine looks great at 10ft on SD stuff. I wold say I could maybe stand bigger too.
