    Depends what plasma you have but I connect both sky and dvd via RGB scart. I would use component if I had a dvd that output it. If you go upmarket then you can connect some dvds via digital means, hdmi etc.

    You can buy sky boxes modified to output sdi but they are expensive.

    Hi, I use an IXOS rgb scart lead, and the picture quality is excellent.
    got it when local Dixons shut down half price from £80 to £40

    dvd is different. depends on what inputs you have, but the rule of thumb seems to be (from the best quality -)

    HDMI, then
    DVI, then
    RGB scart, then
    S Video,
    then (worse) composite.

    Again, people alot more experienced than me will be able to tell you, but the cables are very important, but alot depends also on the quality of your equipment as to wether the extra cable expense will be wothwhile.

    I watch SKY alot, so the better cable was definitely worth it.

    S Video,
    then (worse) composite.

    have ours connected

    dvd->sky->RGB2YUV->Receiver->Plasma
    Xbox->receiverYUV->Plasma

    RGB2YUV converter is a JSTech model :)
    DVD and sky are using RGB SCART passthrough to JS Tech box, which convert to component, these YUV leads are fed into YUV input on receiver, then receiver YUV out to plasma YUV in - simple :)

    I have my Sky+ fed into the TV in s-video via my Yamaha amp. Very few amps do scart switching, so it has to be s-video. If you have a good quality TV properly set up, the difference between RGB and s-video is minimal. Most people who complain about Sky+ pictures do not have the correct settings, especially picture sharpness, which they invariably have wound up way too high. Sky is a "soft" picture which you can't improve with the sharpness control - all that happens is that the digital artefacts get "enhanced".
