Hi m8, do you mean component out for the plasma ??, I use a Marantz DV4300 with NTSC/PAL prog output, it is a very good player, nice picture to my PT AE100 pj, it was £299.99 but can be had from RS for around £119.99 now, seems a bargain to me, you may have to ring around the RS stores to find one, or you could have a look at this months What Hi-Fi for the tests on some dvd players, The TOSHIBA SD340 came out tops, for picture sound etc, and price, £79.99  not had chance to look at one myself yet, but it sure came out good in the review. it has Component out etc, and from what I can tell on the mags etc, there seems to be a higher price model £99.99 with DIVX addon,

The above players play MP3's from CDR, not found one yet that plays em from a DVDR, (that would be nice, lol) the 5.1 for your sony amp, do you mean 5.1 phono's or CO-AX/Optical out, the marantz has both co-ax and optical, not phono out, not sure about the Tosh.
    Hope this helps

    Taz

yes mate it is the component to plasma from back of dvd (3 phono to 3 phono lead)
the 5.1 into amp is phono leads (6 of them)
but i think i have optical input into amp
the most important thing to me is that the quality is there, theres no point in having a good plasma and an inferior picture

Check out the Pioneer thread on here. I've just swapped from an old Marantz DV4100 OSE using JS Tech RGB>VGA converter feeding a Panasonic PW5 plasma and have been extremely impressed with the image quality.

Theres a lot of happy people just bought into the new Pioneer budget range.

Taz - doesn't the Marantz 4300 convert NTSC to PAL60 or is it a true NTSC output?

That'll be the current issue of Home Cinema Choice magazine which tests 10 new players. The Pioneer 470 comes out top for players under £150. Hope this helps.
