the time periods between NA/JP in getting new games to when the UK gets new ones is pretty horrid and freeloader looks like a very good option.. why isnt there a freeloader equivalent for ps2/xbox (ie, something tht lets you play import games without moddin)

what are some online places that sell and ship to the UK = most likely not amazon.com (boo!) import games for the gamecube?

I use www.dvdboxoffice.com. Their prices are very good, but as they don't specialise in games, they can take quite some time to get hold of stock if the game isn't a pre-order.

    www.dvdsoon.com

Great for games and DVD. Canadian and cheap - so really cheap and free shipping. Most of the time stuff is with you within 7 days.

I have ordered about six games in the last month from VG+ and each one has reached me in N.Ireland within five working days. Usualy I order on a Friday and receive the game on Tuesday or Wednesday and they have marked all packages down in value (single games as $20 and a gift) without my ever asking them, everything has been shipped same day as I ordered and no customs charges yet which is always nice :D .

I heard a rumour that the game has been delayed til 2005. Though I believe Capcom are still sticking with winter 2004. Could do with it now really. The GC hasn't had a decent game since metal gear remake, (well, pikmin2 I suppose).

www.play-asia.com is very good and reliable for Japanese and Asian titles. I've even pre-ordered games and got them the same day as release in Japan! (paying for the super-expensive fast shipping)

You could try this for the PS2, you need a Network Adapter and a HDD, and the priviso is that it only works with approx 95-99% of PS2 games. Also developers might cotton an and make their games incompatible. http://www.hdloader.com/ Basically it lets you load a game(s) to a HDD in your PS2, then insert their disk on bootup and play game(s).

Surprised nobody else has mentioned Tronix at www.tronixweb.com. Fast, customs friendly service.

i can wait till whatever date the NTSC release for RE4 is, because the PAL date would be 3+ months beyond that so not really losing out on anything.

i was under the impression that freeloader only loads games to a hard drive?whereas freeloader makes the gc region free without any modifications.

Yeah sorry that could be read in a confused manner. I meant you load a PS2 game to the HDD, and use the hdloader disk on boot up to play. It is a bit dubious because it could break copy protection, ie you could rent from Blockbuster, load the game to HDD, return the original yet still play it fine from the HDD copy. By itself it dosent let you play imported games, but a modchipped PS2 with HDD and hdloader should allow it to be used.

Sorry, but i have no idea how.what Freeloader does so i cannot compare.

It works with everything I've got but things like Donkey Konga have saving "quirks" (i.e they won't).

Nintendo has leant on most places selling this and I was deeply surprised when I went into town the other day to pick up a copy and was met with a dearth -- no-one will stock it anymore

I dont know about the standard freeloader but I know that Action Replay for the Gamecube has the ability to input upgrade codes so if games stop working in the future they just need to figure out what codes are needed to get the games working again and you can then just input them, same thing happened with the DVD Region X for the PS2, the original versions couldnt get rid of the green screen effect but after inputting the updated codes the green screen problem was gone.

Where else can I get an US/Canada NSTC xbox console for $199 Can dollars or Limited Extreme edition Green console $229 canadian dollars?

Dvdboxoffice.com still has it for $270 despite the price drop in March 2004.

i'd second Play-Asia as a good firm to order from - quick service, great prices & I rarely have any customs to pay - infact I haven't had any to pay so far :) . They also give you a $5 voucher for your next purchase of $40 with each order.

http://www.importmadness.co.uk are good. They hold stock in the UK so most games get delivered within 1 to 2 days so long as they have stock available. I have used these guys on many occasions and have always been happy with the service.

Cheers for that link - import madness look pretty cool! Some decent prices, such as Romance of the 3 kingdoms 8 & 9 for £31.99 each.

They only seem to sell imported US games though which is a shame as a lot of the stuff I buy is Jap.

Ah cool - found them, cheers!! The Jap games are under the "import games" heading.

They are a bit pricier but it's still reasonable and there's no risk of import charges I guess.

    Cheers for the link! :)

I've looked at importmadness too. So not including VAT/Duty how much was the X-Box (including postage) Klaus? And anyone, what's the best step down power converter to use? Cheers!
